CASTINE, Maine— The Maine Maritime Academy Alumni Association has announced an open invitation to members of the Castine community to join this year's Homecoming festivities on Friday evening, September 20th. The evening will kick off at 6:30 in the Alexander Field House with live music by The Grasshoppers, followed by a performance by comedian Bob Marley. Hors d'oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available.
Tickets for the evening can be purchased at the Castine Town Office, Emerson Hall, during office hours: Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Ticket cost is $25 and can be paid by personal check or cash. Due to the large number of guests invited to this event, tickets must be obtained by Tuesday, September 17th to secure a seat at the show.
Area residents are also invited to Homecoming events on Saturday, including:
9:00 a.m. - Dedication Ceremony – the Capt. Susan J. Clark
The Academy’s 70’ navigation training lab will be named for the late Captain Susan J. Clark, class of ’85, Portland Harbor Pilot, esteemed member of the MMA Board of Trustees.
11:00 a.m. - Groundbreaking
Shovels in the earth will mark the beginning of the construction phase of the ABS Center for Engineering, Science and Research.
1:00 p.m. - 41st Annual Admiral’s Cup Football Game
Maine Maritime Academy vs. Massachusetts Maritime Academy at Ritchie Field; tailgating begins at 12:00 noon.
