Governor Paul LePage to Deliver Maine Maritime Academy 2013 Commencement Address

Castine, Maine—Captain Robert J. Peacock, II, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Maine Maritime Academy (MMA), announced today that Governor Paul LePage will address graduates at the college’s seventieth commencement, Saturday, May 4, 2013.

“Governor LePage understands the value of an MMA education and the impact our graduates have on maritime industries, the global economy, and especially on the economy of the State of Maine,” said Peacock. “We are honored that he will send off our graduating students to put their expertise and first-class, hands-on training to work.”

LePage, 74th Governor of the State of Maine, was general manager for Marden’s, growing the business for 15 years, and served as mayor of Waterville from 2003 - 2011. LePage earned his M.B.A. from the University of Maine and a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance and Accounting from Husson College.

Maine Maritime Academy is a co-educational public college on the coast of Maine offering degree programs in engineering, management, science and transportation. MMA is one of six state-supported maritime colleges in the United States.MMA serves over 950 undergraduate and graduate students on its Castine campus; approximately 72% are from Maine.
