MMA to Host Ocean Studies Lecture Series

CASTINE, Maine - Maine Maritime Academy's Corning School of Ocean Studies will sponsor a Spring 2012 Seminar Series. Lectures will be held at 3 p.m. in the Alumni Lecture Room, located in Leavitt Hall on the college’s main campus. Lectures are free and open to the public.

Mariners Sailing Coach Qualifies for Third Paralympics

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy's sailing coach, Tom Brown of Castine, Maine, qualified for the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, England. Brown is one of six sailors that earned spots on the U.S. Paralympic Sailing Team at the Rolex Miami Olympic Classes Regatta held on Jan. 27, 2012, on Biscayne Bay.

CASTINE, Maine - The Board of Trustees of Maine Maritime Academy will hold a regular quarterly meeting on Friday, February 24, 2012, at 8:30 a.m., in the Holmes Alumni Heritage Room, located on the lower level of the Harold Alfond Student Center. Standing Committees of the Board of Trustees will meet throughout the day on Thursday, February 23, at various times.

Wlodkowski Named to Governor's STEM Council

CASTINE, Maine – Dr. William J. Brennan, president of Maine Maritime Academy (MMA,) recently appointed Dr. Paul Wlodkowski, associate professor of engineering at MMA, to serve as the college’s representative to the Governor’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Council.

MMA Alumni Seek Donations for Marine Flea Market

CASTINE, Maine - The Casco Bay Chapter of the Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) Alumni Association is currently seeking donations of nautical items for their Annual Marine Flea Market. The event, to be held in conjunction with the upcoming Maine Boat Builders Show in Portland, is set for March 16-18.

Leach Named Head of Career Services at Maine Maritime Academy

CASTINE, Maine – Dr. John Barlow, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Academic Dean at Maine Maritime Academy (MMA), has announced the appointment of Captain Timothy N. Leach, of Castine, Maine, to the post of director of career services and cadet shipping at the Castine college.

Sherman to Coach MMA Lacrosse

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy Director of Athletics, Eric Sabean, has announced the appointment of Adam Sherman as the Mariners' Head Lacrosse Coach. Sherman, who has served on the Academy's football staff since last July, will assume his new duties immediately. He will also retain a role with the football program.

MMA Etiquette Program Seeks Community Volunteers

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy’s campus-based etiquette program, “Dining In,” is seeking community volunteers to serve as table hosts and hostesses at upcoming semi-formal dinners on campus.

MMA's Goda Named Player of the Week, Reaches 1,000 Career Points

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime senior Sam Goda, Eliot, Maine, was named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Co-Player of the Week on Monday. She shares the honor with Husson senior Brianna Hanscom. Both reached their 1,000th career points last week.
