 IN PORT - CHARLESTON, SC

Today was the last liberty day of Cruise 2012, and the last day in Charleston, South Carolina. As we gathered the reports from students, it appears many of them made it to Patriots Point to tour the USS YORKTOWN, and many made it to some local beaches, as well as Fort Sumter. However a major activity was just to wander the streets of downtown Charleston and enjoy the homes and architecture. Interesting enough, there were some very unique sights right alongside the ship where several dolphin appeared to be constantly playing.

The weather held again for the third day, with a few more clouds, warm temperatures and some typical southern humidity.

Our planned departure Monday morning includes the following schedule. Tugs will be alongside at 0745, with the pilot boarding at that time, followed by the gangway being raised. The last line should be let go at 0800, and then we will pass the pilot buoy at roughly 1000. Our destination is the Matinicus Pilot Station at 0500 on Saturday, June 30th. Saying that the entire ship’s company is excited about this is a major understatement! We’re anxious to head north!!
