Off the Northern Coast of Haiti

It was sunny and hot most of the day. Had a few showers around this morning but they did not amount to much. Started picking up a little more swell from the Atlantic. They aren’t anything big, just three or four feet in height. Wind picked up a little from the east this afternoon, blowing about 15 kts. It looks like we are encountering the “trade winds.”

We are currently passing off the north coast of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. There is some ship traffic but not much. Encountered more ships when we went by the Windward Passage.

Another good day for deck maintenance, the engineers are keeping things running very well.

We have exchanged Emails with the “Golden Bear”, that’s the California training ship. She just transited the Panama Canal today and is now in the Caribbean. We are looking at rendezvousing with her a little south of Haiti, possibly on the 27th.  That will be interesting, as the school training ships almost never encounter each other on their training cruises.
