Dr. Richard Kimball is METEL’s Technical Director and is a professor of engineering at MMA in the marine engineering department. He earned Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering at MIT in the area of Marine Propulsion. He has several years of experience as an engineering manager in industry and has published research in a wide range of disciplines including: Marine Propulsion, Ocean Energy, Diesel Fuel development, Wave basin/tow tank and wind tunnel testing /development.

Dr. Darrell Donahue is METEL’s Administrative Director and the Director of Research at MMA and earned his Ph.D. from NC State. He is a member of the UMaine FBRI and has experience in industry in process engineering.

Dr. Clay Wheeler is METEL’s Lead Coordinator at UMaine where he is a professor of Chemical Engineering and earned his Ph.D. from UT Austin. He is the Principal investigator on the TDO project described. He is a Key faculty member of FBRI at UMaine and has significant experience in the development of fuel products from various feedstocks such as biomass. He has prior industrial experience as a research engineer at Texaco.

Dr. William DeSisto is a professor of Chemical Engineering at UMaine and earned his Ph.D. from Brown University in Chemical Engineering. He is the co-PI on the TDO project described. He has significant experience in the development of fuels from various feedstocks such as biomass. He worked for 10 years as a researcher at the US Naval Research Laboratory.

Laurie Flood, Prof. of Engineering MMA, is a licensed marine engineer and expert in marine environmental regulation and compliance. Prof. Flood has a MA in Environmental Law and Policy and a MS in environmental engineering.

Dr. George Harakas is a professor of Chemistry at MMA and earned his Ph.D. at Texas Tech University.  He has several years of industrial experience as a process engineer for Texas Instruments in the areas of photolithography, chemical etching and cleaning.

Dr. Paul Wlodkowski is a professor of Engineering at MMA and earned his Ph.D. from University of Maryland. He worked for Wilcox Research developing vector acoustic sensors for the Navy and has experience with active materials such as TEGs.
