STATEMENT OF THE JOB
Employee serves as the assistant to the Marine Operations Manager in his/her absence. Employee is responsible for the operation of Academy small craft and must possess a 100 Ton Master U.S. Coast Guard license. Employee may serve as Academy representative and will have public contact representing the Academy. Employee has a high degree of responsibility with day to day supervision of Academy waterfront personnel, scheduling, maintenance, repair and purchasing for the Academy small craft fleet in the Marine Operation Manager's absence.
DUTIES OF THE JOB
1. Employee serves as master of various Academy small craft, as well as assisting the Marine Operations Manager in organizing and scheduling of all other small craft master activities.
2. Assists the Marine Operations Manager with the routine direct supervision and scheduling of all waterfront personnel for the maintenance and care of all Academy small craft.
3. Employee must be prepared to be away from the Academy on vessel charters from time to time.
4. Under the direction of the Marine Operations Manager or his/her designee, the employee is expected to perform multiple boat trips for Academy programs.
5. Assists with directing all purchasing, vessel repairs, planning and scheduling.
6. Assists with compliance of all safety regulations and may serve as the waterfront representative on the Academy safety committee.
7. Employee may also be relief Captain or crew on the vessel "Pentagoet" or the vessel as assigned.
8. May be required to teach classes as needed.
9. May be responsible for the supervision, coordination and scheduling of student workers and/or regular Academy employees.
