STATEMENT OF THE JOB
Employee serves as evening shift coordinator as assigned by the Director of Security. Employee patrols and checks Academy grounds, buildings and waterfront to ensure that no unauthorized persons are in restricted areas. Work involves identifying and reporting situations requiring attention to the proper authorities in accordance with established protocols and verifying that all facilities are properly secured. The employee also enforces Academy rules and regulations and contacts proper law enforcement authorities as necessary and appropriate.
DUTIES OF THE JOB
1. Employee performs all duties of Security Guard II including:
2. Patrols the Academy in a vehicle or on foot to detect suspicious incidents, public safety and security hazards and equipment or building malfunctions.
3. Investigates malfunctions observed or reported and reports to proper authorities in accordance with established procedures for work that requires immediate attention.
4. Opens buildings for authorized entries.
5. Prepares and submits a daily activity and/or incident report.
6. Coordinates contact with appropriate law enforcement authorities when necessary. Assists police as appropriate including detaining suspects if so requested.
7. Enforces Academy traffic and parking regulations.
8. Assists and provides information to visitors.
9. May supervise Security Guard I and Security Guard II employees, and/or student workers.
