STATEMENT OF THE JOB
Employee performs highly skilled work involving all facets of maintaining the Academy's small craft fleet. Employee has a high degree of student supervision as well as a high degree of public contact representing the academy.
DUTIES OF THE JOB
1. Provides painting of Academy vessels with various marine coatings.
2. Trains and supervises students in craft techniques.
3. Assist with rigging academy sailboats.
4. Responsible for mooring maintenance.
5. Responsible for the safety and cleanliness of various shop areas.
6. Operates cranes, travel lifts, pumps, vehicles and other equipment and assists with maintenance of this equipment.
7. Operates various academy vessels and serves as crew member on academy vessels as required.
8. Responsible for fiberglass repairs.
9. Assists with mechanical repairs of various academy vessels and equipment including safety inspections.
10. Teaches students in various lab situations as required.
11. Supervises work study students.
12. Cleans and polishes various academy vessels.
13. Responsible for various woodworking projects such as vessel repair and float building and repair.
14. Protective equipment and drug test applicable to this position.
15. Position duties include lifting heavy items and climbing masts.
