JOB TITLE: Electronics Technician/Electrician-Training Vessel

STATEMENT OF THE JOB
Employee is responsible for the maintenance, testing, and repair of shipboard and shore side-laboratory electrical equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and maintain modern shipboard electronic systems is also required. Employee must possess U.S. Coast Guard and trade licenses. Employee may, provide input for report and budget preparation.
DUTIES OF THE JOB
1. Responsible for the maintenance, repair and testing of shipboard and laboratory electrical and electronic systems. These include, but are not limited to: power generation and distribution, engine-room monitoring, engine/bridge controls, alarms, navigational equipment, communications, and safety equipment aboard ship, and generators, motors, and simulators in laboratories ashore.
2. Assists storekeeper in maintaining ship's inventory of electrical spare parts and tools.
3. Position may require frequent call-ins while ship is in port.
4. Position includes annual training cruise and other sea duty including shipyard.
5. Responsible for compliance with safety regulations.
6. Performs required tests and inspections on assigned equipment.
7. Assists in the preparation of repair lists.
8. May be assigned to serve on other Academy vessels.
9. As a uniformed officer, will comply with the regimental uniform regulations as modified by the Commandant for staff officers.
10. May supervise students and regular employees as assigned.
