4BSTATEMENT OF THE JOB

 

5BThe Director is the primary liaison between the Academy and the Association. The Director will be responsible for assisting the leadership of the Alumni Association with providing strategic vision and leadership for its alumni body of 7,000+ with particular emphasis on identifying, engaging and cultivating alumni participation through its Association and Board of Directors while introducing students to the opportunities available to them as active members of the Academy community. The Director will possess an understanding and appreciation of the importance of alumni networking and mentoring. Additionally, the Director will understand fundraising in relation to alumni activity and have the ability to cultivate relationships with respect to fundraising objectives.

6BDUTIES OF THE JOB

 

1.      7BPlans, manages and coordinates official alumni activities, including, but not limited to: homecoming, summer reunions, senior banquet, alumni association board meetings, election of officers, cruise receptions.

2.      8BCreates and maintains the calendar of official Alumni Association events and activities.

3.      9BWrites, edits and distributes monthly alumni newsletter to chapter presidents.

4.      10BManages and maintains external alumni association budget that includes investment, savings and checking accounts. Prepares, maintains and updates Alumni Association Treasurer's reports. Receives and distributes funds in coordination with the alumni board.

5.      11BProvides guidance and assistance to all classes celebrating reunions.

6.      12BArranges and attends all meetings of the Board of Directors of the association.

      13BWorks with the president of the association on agenda preparation and other related meeting support services.

7.      14BKeeps a true and complete record of all proceedings of the meetings of the alumni association.

8.      15BManages the income distribution and financial record of the association's sales of alumni chairs, sextants, crests and other such items of interest to alumni.

9.      16BMaintains alumni files and records and is solely responsible for the production of the alumni directory.

10.  17BServes on selected committees of the alumni association.

11.  18BWorks closely with the editor of the Mariner Magazine in an advisory capacity. Assists in the gathering of class notes, related news items and the association president's letter.

12.  19BAssist Chief Advancement Officer with fundraising in relation to alumni activity and cultivate relationships with respect to fundraising objectives.

13.  20BResponsible for internal departmental budgets, i.e. homecoming, summer reunions, alumni senior banquet and general office operating budget.  

14.  21BAssists in identifying, enlisting and training alumni volunteers. 

15.  22BSupervises student and/or regular Academy employees.
