Scholarship Types
Writing a Thank You
- Presidential Achievement - Merit-based aid to recognize scholastic achievement. Amount equivalent to half of Maine In-state tuition for first-year ($4,140 for 2010/11), awarded to incoming first-year students; may be renewed every year thereafter (at the same amount as the first year, regardless of potential tuition increase) if a 3.0 cumulative grade is maintained and no major or continuous disciplinary infractions incurred.
To be considered for this scholarship, a prospective student must:
- Receive an unconditional acceptance to MMA;
- Achieve a minimum of 1100 on the SAT,(Critical Reading (CR) and Math (M)sections), or a 24 composite on the ACT;
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or a numerical score of 88 on a 100 scale throughout high school and have no final grade below a C in any course;
- Be a good citizen.

- Distinguished Scholar Award - Merit-based aid to recognize scholastic achievement. $2,000 awarded to incoming first-year student; may be renewed every year thereafter if a 3.0 cumulative grade is maintained and no major or continuous disciplinary infractions incurred.
To be considered for this scholarship, a prospective student must:
- Receive an unconditional acceptance to MMA;
- Be a recipient of a Presidential Achievement Scholarship;
- Women, regardless of major;
- Men enrolled in Marine Biology, Marine Science, or Marine Systems Engineering (4 or 5 year),
- Distinguishes oneself through academic achievement, school/community service, good citizenship, and career ambition.

- Bath Iron Works Scholarship
Student must be the dependent of an employee of Bath Iron Works.
- Boston Port Seamen's Aid Society
Open to Massachusetts residents.
- Myron D. Rust Scholarship
Open to residents of Eliot, Kittery, Wells or York, Maine who attended one of the following high schools: Marshwood, Traip,
Wells, or York.
- Two-year Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC)
Scholarship Program>
The Two-Year NROTC Scholarship and Two-Year NROTC College Programs were
established to provide officers for the United States Navy and Marine Corps.
- Scott Searway Scholarship
Awarded each year to a student or students, who graduated from Edward Little High School, Portland High School, Deering High School, Cheverus High School, or who resides on Chebeague Island (and attends Greely High School) and has been accepted to Maine Maritime Academy.
- The Woman's Seamen's Friend Society of Connecticut
Open to Connecticut residents.
