CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy recently named students to their Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement in the second semester of the 2013-2014 academic year. Students named to the Dean’s List earn a grade point average of 3.3 or above on a 4.0 scale.
Boothbay Harbor, Maine—June 25, 2014—Maine Maritime Academy has canceled upcoming visits to Portland and Provincetown due to a potential compromise in the vessel’s main mast, discovered during a routine rigging check on Monday.
CASTINE, Maine—June 23, 2014—Maine Maritime Academy’s schooner Bowdoin, a National Historic Landmark and the Official Vessel of the State of Maine, will sail into Provincetown for the 4th of July. The Bowdoin will dock at MacMillan Pier in Provincetown Harbor. The ship’s crew and student sailors-in-training will host public open boat hours on Friday and Saturday, July 4th and 5th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. both days.
CASTINE, Maine—June 16, 2014—Maine Maritime Academy’s schooner Bowdoin, a National Historic Landmark and the Official Vessel of the State of Maine, set sail for New York on Monday, June 2nd. Ten Academy students in the Vessel Operations and Technology program will navigate and maintain the 88-foot tall ship, with the help of 6 crew members, as part of their at-sea training during the month of June.
CASTINE, Maine – The International Guild of Miniature Artisans (IGMA) will be hosting the 33rd annual Guild School at Maine Maritime Academy from June 7-14 with free exhibitions for the public Sunday through Wednesday, June 8 - 11 (9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) and on Thursday, June 12 (9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.).
CASTINE, Maine – Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) students from Maine Maritime Academy (MMA), the University of Maine, and Husson University gathered at MMA for the annual Navy ROTC Awards Ceremony on April 14, 2014 to recognize the midshipmen’s achievements throughout the 2013-2014 school year.
CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy students, officers, and crew will depart Castine on Wednesday, May 7, on the Training Ship State of Maine for the annual two-month training evolution to foreign and domestic ports of call. This year’s training cruise itinerary includes stops in Trieste, Italy; Reykjavik, Iceland; Kiel, Germany; Portsmouth, New Hampshire; and Searsport, Maine.
