MMA Mourns the Passing of Long-Time Employee, Vernette Eaton

 

CASTINE, Maine – Vernette June Eaton, 89, passed away March 9, 2013 at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. Vernette worked at Maine Maritime Academy from December 1969 to October 1985 in a variety of capacities; she was the school’s telephone operator and also worked as front desk associate, greeting visitors and performing numerous administrative duties.

Vernette was born May 10, 1923 in Stonington, Maine. She was the daughter of George Howard and Ethel Allen Barter Noyes. She was predeceased by her first husband Louis L. Baldwin and second husband of fifty-nine years, Gerald Martin Eaton. She is survived by her two sons, Raymond and Howard Eaton; three daughters, Jane Conary, Sandra Venno, and Anita Baldwin; and grandson Aaron Eaton.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 14, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home in Stonington at 10 a.m. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service. Interment will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Deer Isle.
