MMA Presents Events in March, All Events are Free and Open to the Public


CASTINE, Maine – March 11, 2013 - Maine Maritime Academy Athletics, Residential Life and Activities and Bands Committee are hosting events this month – including family-friendly current movies – which are free and open to the public.

Members of the community are invited to attend the following events:

Monday, March 11 – Screening of the movie “Skyfall” at 8 p.m. in The Waypoint
Thursday, March 14 – Speaker Hudson Taylor at 8 p.m. in Delano Auditorium
Wednesday, March 20 – MMA Softball doubleheader vs. Fisher at 3 and 5 p.m.
Thursday, March 21 – Mentalist Logan Rouse at 8 p.m. in The Waypoint
Saturday, March 23 – MMA Softball doubleheader vs. Bates at 1 and 3 p.m.
Monday, March 25 – Screening of the movie “Argo” at 8 p.m. in The Waypoint
Friday, March 29 – Men’s Lacrosse vs. Thomas at 7 p.m.
Saturday, March 30 – MMA Softball doubleheader vs. New England College at 12 and 2 p.m.

Directions to the campus and a campus map can be found at the Maine Maritime Academy website: Community members are encouraged to park in the Leavitt Hall and Bath Iron Works building parking lots or any parking spot designated for faculty and staff.

Event details:

Monday, March 11 –“Skyfall,” 8 p.m. – The Waypoint (Bottom floor of the Harold Alfond Student Center): Skyfall is the latest in the James Bond series starring Daniel Craig and Judi Dench. The relationship between Bond (Craig) and M (Dench) is put to the test as M’s secretive past comes back to haunt her in this action flick. It is rated PG-13.

Thursday, March 14 – Hudson Taylor, 8 p.m. – Delano Auditorium (Leavitt Hall): Hudson Taylor is a former All-American Wrestler for the University of Maryland who, while in college, took a stand against the anti-gay and transgender culture in locker rooms across America.

Thursday, March 21 – Mentalist Logan Rouse, 8 p.m. – The Waypoint: Logan Rouse is a young, up-and-coming magician, mentalist, and mind-reader from the greater Bangor area.

Monday, March 25 – “Argo,” 8 p.m. – The Waypoint: Argo is based on the real-life declassified story of a secret 1980 joint U.S. – Canadian mission to extract six American embassy personnel from Iran after revolutionary forces overran the compound. Ben Affleck, John Goodman, and Bryan Cranston star in this historic thriller. It is rated R for language and some violent images.
