CASTINE, Maine - Scheduled to open on the first day of class, Maine Maritime Academy’s new Center for Student Success will help the college usher in the fall semester. Located at 54 Pleasant Street in the recently renovated Buoy House, the new center has something for every student.
Associate Academic Dean Joceline Boucher, who directs the Academy’s Accessibility Services, is excited about the new facility. “President Brennan proposed the idea of a center last year, providing us with the opportunity to consolidate multiple academic programs under one roof”, she says. “Academy staff members have worked hard to turn the building into a terrific site for a variety of uses. We hope to attract students in need of assistance, those able to help, and those wanting to explore new ideas.”
Initially, the Center for Student Success will house the Academy’s Writing Center, Testing Center, Henry A. Scheel Lounge, Accessibility Services offices, and a nascent Honors Program. Students needing study help or wanting to tutor can also come to the center. The facility will be open daily, with tutoring and writing help available into the evening hours.
