DownEast Consortium of Maine Colleges

The DownEast Consortiummembers are five highly acclaimed, academically diverse, and geographically gifted colleges that offer a number of support services for high school and private college counselors and their students. The professional services our member colleges provide are:

• counselor association meeting sponsorships,
• college counseling presentations (i.e., financial aid, the college search/ selection process, college visit planning, the application process, the interview, NCAA eligibility standards, etc.), and

Professional, Educational, & Recreational Programs

Education is what Maine Maritime is all about. Our faculty, staff, and facilities play host to various outreach programs to individuals, groups and organizations from around the world.

Continuing Education - an excellent program for the professional mariner. With numerous courses offered throughout the year, many mariners find our specialized program accommodates their shipping rotation.

College Aspirations Programs

1. Discovery Voyage - Demonstrates how classroom instruction relates to "the real world" is the focus of this on-campus program. Maine high school students apply their math and science knowledge in a number of ways: aboard our oceanographic research vessels, in our engineering operations labs, and during an international business role play. See a college "in action". Free lunch and transportation subsidy.
2. Admissions 101 - A highly interactive program where high school freshmen & sophomores serve as the Admissions Committee for Dirigo State University and make decisions on who is qualified for admissions. This cost-free program comes to your high school and introduces students to the college application process. 3. Service Academy Information Night - MMA hosts this very informative program for the young men and women who wish to pursue admission into the service academies. All these highly competitive and respected institutions are represented along with representatives from Maine's congressional offices and a number of colleges offering alternative commissioning and scholarship opportunities.

DownEast Consortium of Maine Colleges - a resource for college counseling seminars, financial aid presentations, and associaton meeting sponsorships.

Conference Center - arrange to use our classrooms, lodging accommodations, dining services, athletic facilities and waterfront to host gatherings from 6 to 600. Many corporate groups, high school leadership organizations and sports camps have found our location and facilities a great setting for their special activities. (Availability is limited during the school year).
