LibraryThe Nutting Memorial Library is located in Platz Hall, which was built in 1979. The library's mission is to support the Academy's instructional programs, research efforts, and social responsibilities. Holdings include:

  • over 87,000 books
  • over 2,000 videos/DVDs, and sound recordings
  • more than 380 current domestic and international periodicals
  • extensive retrospective serial holdings, both in print and on microform
  • over 109,000 government publications
  • Online catalog is available.
  • Strong in the areas of engineering, maritime and ocean studies, marine technology, business, and nautical history.
  • A selective U. S. Government Documents depository, emphasizing maritime, engineering, oceanographic, and business documents.
  • A depository for the National Imaging and Mapping Agency and the National Ocean Survey, housing over 4,500 maps and charts of the world and of the territorial waters of the U.S.
  • Computer workstations, scanner, networked printer, wireless Internet capability, numerous electronic databases, and CD-ROM resources.
  • Three floors, with group and individual study areas, and a comfortable student lounge.

  • Spacious Special Collections reading room offers a commanding view of campus, while current periodicals area overlooks Penobscot Bay.
